  1. GETTING EGAINT
  2.  
  3. There are several ways to obtain the complete source code and/or the
  4. latest version of this program; I'll outline a few of the more obvious
  5. procurements methods below.
  6.  
  7. First and foremost, you can download the complete egaint (and more) when
  8. calling either of the following bulletin board systems (both serve as
  9. the primary distributors of this program):

  17. Both systems are exceptional, quite comfortable, and run by two of the
  18. best sysops around:  I heartily encourage you to call both (tell them I
  19. sent you).

  21. Look for files in the form of EGmmddx.ZIP (where mmdd is the month and
  22. day of the release and x is either "E", "S", and "P", representing the
  23. executable, source code, and patch distributions, respectively) in the
  24. either the games or upload directories.  Since more than one version
  25. might exist from time to time, using the "zippy scan" command for
  26. "egaint" in all directories should locate (eventually) the most current
  27. version.

  29. In addition, as time and funds permit, I do try to call some of the more
  30. interesting bulletin board systems around the contiguous forty-eight
  31. states from time to time, so a copy (albeit usually not the latest
  32. version) probably exists on a system near you (if not, upload it there
  33. yourself!).

  35. Unfortunately, the grabbing of egaint via Fidonet file requests is not
  36. available at this time.
  37.  
  38. For those with Internet and/or UUCP access, I can electronically mail
  39. out uuencode'd binaries or shar'd source code--send mail to one of the
  40. addresses listed below for more details.  In addition, an anonymous ftp
  41. site for egaint exists at ocf.berkeley.edu (128.32.184.254); look in the
  42. "pub/erc" subdirectory.

  44. Also, I periodically submit versions to the comp.binaries.ibm.pc
  45. newsgroup (though whether or not they actually get posted is another
  46. matter entirely), something which Usenet aficionados can stay tuned for.
  47. Since this newsgroup is archived at several sites, notably
  48. grape.ecs.clarkson.edu (non-authoritative address:  128.153.13.196),
  49. previous releases should be available from one of them.

  51. Finally, for those shut off from the rest of the world or too busy to
  52. bother, mailing a self-addressed, stamped mailer with either a 5.25-
  53. inch, 360k or 3.5-inch, 720k or 1.44M diskette to the below postal
  54. address will also work.  Please make sure that you provide adequate
  55. postage!  Due to monetary limitations (read:  I'm a poor, busy college
  56. student), if your package is either under-postaged or incompletely
  57. addressed, it will probably be tossed.

  59. Since versions are issued at a very irregular frequency (ranging from
  60. twice a day to twice a year) as opposed to, for example, bi-monthly,
  61. announcements concerning the availability of major releases will be
  62. posted to the Usenet newsgroups comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d and
  63. rec.games.misc and the Games conference on Smartnet.

  68. I'm terribly interested in hearing about any bug reports, complaints,
  69. suggestions, improvements, or comments which you might have concerning
  70. this program, even if it's just a postcard of New York City with "Nice
  71. program!" scrawled on it.

  73. Again, there are several ways to reach me.  First, you can leave me a
  74. comment on either of the aforementioned bulletin board systems when you
  75. download the latest version.

  77. I also regularly monitor the Games conference on the Smartnet network,
  78. so leaving me a message in that conference on any network carrier should
  79. also work.

  81. Internet and/or UUCP electronic mail also works (and is probably the
  82. preferred method of contact); apropos addresses are given below.

  84. For Compuserve users, there is a way to send electronic mail through a
  85. gateway to Internet:  prefixing my Internet address with ">internet:"
  86. should do the trick (i.e., ">internet:erc@irss.njit.edu").  Issuing the
  87. Compuserve command "help internet" will recant more detailed information
  88. concerning this gateway.

  90. For Fidonet users, there is a way to send Netmail to an Internet and/or
  91. UUCP address:  consult your local system operator for more details.

  93. Finally, letters and cards (preferably of picturesque local tourist
  94. attractions) to my postal address also work (but tend to take about week
  95. to get here).

  98. THE EGAINT MAILING LIST
  99.  
  100. A mailing list devoted to egaint and other related topics (including,
  101. but not limited to Tetris and KLAX) has been formed for those users who
  102. can both send and receive mail to and from Internet and/or UUCP accounts
  103. (this includes Internet, UUCP, Compuserve, and Fidonet users).
  104. Subscribing to this list will enable users to not only receive
  105. notification of future releases, but will also receive bug reports,
  106. hints, and discussions concerning the future direction of egaint.  To
